Ever since the 2019 model year of the RAM 1500 got unveiled, its been the benchmark truck to beat amongst the big players in the segment. For 2022, we see some interesting changes for the new RAM as seen in the review. See my 2021 Ford F-150 Review: 🤍 There’s a variety of trim levels you can choose from for the RAM trucks but we also have new special editions to choose from for the Big Horn, Laramie, Rebel, Longhorn, and Limited. The GT truck seems enticing but will still make the same HP and Torque as the regular 5.7l Hemi V8. The Laramie I tested here has the 5.7l with the eTorque system which I talk about in this review. I would also suggest getting the ecodiesel if you drive a lot or tow often. Some of the exterior enhancements you can make include the Night Edition and Sport option to get color matched bumpers. The interior continues to be class leading and improved further over previous RAMs by offering a stitched dash. I also talk about how to purchase or lease a new RAM with a 12% off discount through the AutoCompanion broker found on the leasehackr forum. More details on that towards the Nero fo the review. But keep in mind if you are ordering a new truck, Crew Cab models with the 4x4 will be the most desirable when you go to sell it. Obviously a TRX is a great purchase but not sure about the incentives or deals available with that truck. Do you think the RAM 1500 Laramie is worth the money? I like the Hemi eTorque V8 engine since it packs good low end power and a very smooth horsepower curve. The 8 speed automatic delivers the power well and has smooth sifts. Powerplant the RAM is on point and drives super nice. The suspension is also very comfortable on the road and you can tell it's a solid truck. The interior of the RAM for 2023 has a massive infotainment screen and everything just looks very nice. Well laid out and easy to use and the materials feel high quality. The RAM 1500 Crew Cab is roomy with plenty of space up front and in back. Lots of headroom and leg room, and has a ton of storage. The bed space is fine but I'd like to see a better tail gate. While RAM makes the barn door style, it seems useless and not very helpful for the work load a truck like this will see. But overall I think the RAM 1500 Laramie is worth the $70,000 price tag since the competition is priced the same and this offers such a god driving experience with a lot of capability! I had spent some time in a few of the latest RAM trucks, different trims and engines and really liked the overall experience. You don’t need to be Einstein to work out Australians have gone dual-cab crazy. Sailing atop the sales charts, the HiLux and Ranger continue to sell in record numbers. And now, if you need something a little bigger – but not the biggest – another proper US truck has arrived: the 2018 Ram 1500. There is a newer model in the States – the 2019 is already on sale, and will be offered alongside this 2018 variant for a while – but we won’t be getting the latest one for the moment. In either case, it's important to note: the Ram 1500 isn't a Dodge. Hasn’t been for almost a decade, in fact, but it is a full-size pickup truck from the US, and this one is converted here by experts. More than that, all Australia-bound examples are flagged as such before they even hit the production line. There are some hints in the standard specification inclusions indicating this truck is destined for the Australian market from the outset. Trucks bound to come here get Australian compliant tail-lights, a metric driver display cluster, local radio frequencies and satellite navigation. You’ve seen the work ASV – American Special Vehicles – does with Ram 2500 and Ram 3500, and now it has turned its attention to the little brother, the Ram 1500. Read our pricing and specification breakdown for the full details, but in short pricing will start from $79,990 drive-away for the Express model, and $99,950 before on-road costs for the Laramie model with all the fruit. I don’t recommend the Rebel trim as I don’t think it fulfills the smooth luxurious mission of the RAM but off road enthusiasts will appreciate it. The Classic and Tradesman are on the lower end of the spectrum and might be ok for work purposes. The Ram 1500 diesel is finally here. This is arguably the big pick-up truck Aussies have been waiting for, because until now, if you wanted a Ram 1500 you had to have it with a petrol engine. But the launch of the 2020 Ram 1500 Laramie EcoDiesel could well be the answer to plenty of people’s questions. Diesel is often preferred for those who tow heavy loads or lug a lot of weight on a regular basis, and it’s often a more affordable fuel type if you’re travelling outside the city limits, too. For those thinking that a diesel version of the Ram 1500 would push it into new territory when it comes to fuel consumption – especially for a variant named EcoDiesel – there’s some bad news. We’ll get to that below. For this test we did more than, er, 1500 kilometres to get an idea of how the Ram 1500 diesel handled itself. From a long highway trip to a heavy-duty towing review, this test aims to tell you everything you need. If you need a comfortable and competent towing vehicle then the Ram 1500 Laramie EcoDiesel is a pretty strong contender. It’s expensive, yes, and it doesn’t really tow $50,000 better than a Ford Ranger, for instance. But if you need a ute of this size and you plan to spend a lot of time touring, the Ram 1500 diesel is a solid option.
